A Leeky Christmas.
Yeah, yeah... I know its 2009 now, but I forgot to post these from Christmas night:
I'll rarely get on a soapbox through the blog, but found this completely racist. "Hip Hop Santa"??? This Santa statuette does not possess anything that would be considered remotely "Hip-Hop". No boombox, no sunglasses, no hat worn backwards - and that's all stereotypical stuff. It seems to be merely because this figure is African-American. WTF?!?! I could go on, but that's basically my point.

I totally agree. I feel that corporate America associates all negativity with African Americans. Urban, Hip Hop and Thug Life are just nicer ways to say it. I believe that they purposely paint the picture that all African American woman are Baby Momma's, on Public Aid and are looking for a "baller" to take care of them and as for the men they make them all out to be criminals, drug dealers, gang bangers, rappers and at best a basket ball player. You never hear about the fact that we were Kings and Queens, built America with our bare hands and that we are the original people that birthed this whole nation.
Ummm... okay. I wasn't saying all that. What you're saying is not completely true, nor is it completely false. And I do believe the company that made this Santa is in Korea, so it would be how that Korean company, not even all Koreans, view US African Americans, perhaps. ...And I'll just leave it at that.
