Babes In Toyland.

This past Monday, Danielle and I took a trip to rotofugi, the designer toy store we visited not to long ago.  Husband and wife art duo Le Merde are showcasing their new work in the rotofugi gallery entitled Vanfar and Boko Raton. Dope name, and I'm not even sure what that means.

They showcased their latest resin figures as well as their paintings.  The price tag on the figures range from $135 - $200, while the paintings range from $350 - $600.

After checking out the gallery we perused the store a bit.

Danielle said this guy looks like me.  I couldn't agree more.

Steff Bomb works at rotofugi, and she has her own plush toy brand - IMM (I Make Monsters). She's a little camera shy.
Dope tat.  Make sure you say what's up to Steff when you visit rotofugi, suckas!
Danielle has me collecting Dunnies (kidrobot), so we copped some before we left.

I know what you're saying, "More toys!?!?!?!"  Yeah, and what!

Fiberglass Feelings

I've been meaning to get over to rotofugi, a designer toy store here in Chicago, for the longest. It took a post on Hypebeast to get my legs to moving.  So I finally checked out the store as well as the Noop Show by Coarsetoys creator Mark Landwehr being held in rotofugi's gallery... The craftsmanship alone is impressive.  All the figures were either sad, angry, dead, or hurt in some fashion.

I went on a rather chill day, so Whitney, one of the owners, was able to show me around a bit and filled me in on some key things:
1. This is Mark's first U.S. show.
2. This is rotofugi's biggest exhibit to date.
3. Contrary to popular belief, most of the figures are not vinyl.  They're fiberglass.
4. They ain't cheap!

Mark Landwehr hard at work.  Looks like he checks for one of my favorite brands.
This guy, though my favorite from the show, immediately reminded me of the Donnie Darko bunny.  This little guy retails for about $4,800 - and he's not even the most expensive.
Paw! will be released soon
The show will continue through October 5th.  Next time I'll take some shots of the actual rotofugi store space.  Equally impressive!
