Logos.

"Ain't A Thang Changed" directed by me. I shot this on Super 8mm about a week before graduating from SIUC in 2005. Posting just because... And check the vintage Katalyst polo I'm wearing. Katalyst became W!LD LEEK for those interested. Perhaps I'll get a chance to tell that story one day.

I just saw a full version of Oscar-award-winning animated short Logorama, but about 2 minutes after I saw it on Vimeo they took it down. I thought it was so good, so creative, I decided to post the YouTube/2 part version. Check it:

Vincent (1982).

Written and directed by Tim Burton. Narrated by Vincent Price... and what great narration it is.

Well written story as well. I think I'll always be a Tim Burton fan. Beetlejuice was one of my favorite movies as a shorty believe it or not (ask my parents!). And I wish I could hire Vincent Price to narrate a day in my life.

Giving Thanks.

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving, family! On behalf of the W!LD LEEK family I want would just like to say thank you to all our supporters... Thank You. As we continue to grow I never want to forget how we got to where we are, which is basically off of your support. First things first...

W!LD LEEK is a project I started with the hopes of building a community of people who share similar yet diverse interests. One central interest of mine is the love of films, and more specifically the art of filmmaking. When I post music videos, or short films its because I actually like the clip, I can appreciate the time and effort that went into the final product. I don't post things because it's "cool". Though other blogs may have the same videos I post (heck, I get the clips from other blogs to begin with!), I only post the ones I actually have an opinion on. With that said, I'm going to start sharing some of my own original film works. The first being a video that I directed this past August. Harold Green's "Mad Drivin'":

Not only did I direct this piece, I also produced the beat for this joint. Once again, thank you for the support, and let me know what you think of this clip, as well as the forthcoming clips. Enjoy!

Love!

Thick Mugs.

By vertical montanas. Done by the Cinco design group. Dope colors. I'm not sure I get it, but it looks good.

A baby??? Huh? Still an intriguing concept.

Videogioco.

By Milkyeyes (Donato Sansone).

The time and effort of animation always intrigues me. And with projects like this its never really about the story line, its more about the concept... the actual technique of the procedure itself.

And look at that... its a loop! Nice.

We Were Once A Fairytale.

A short film by Spike Jonze starring Kanye West (among others).

Though unsettling, I kinda like this piece. Kanye did a pretty good job of acting drunk (no jokes here, I'll take the high road). So what does it all mean? That's a ?uestion for Spike and Kanye, but I'll put a few thoughts out there. With the first portion of the film being dedicated to watching Kanye's drunken antics, it would seem the ending would have something to do with his drunkenness. In my humble opinion its because of who he is most that most of the comments I've seen on this clip suggest the creature at the end is West's ego. Perhaps. If so, shouldn't we have seen Kanye sober and acting crazy, as he tends to do? Anyone one could potentially act this way when they're drunk enough. And the creature seems rather mild-mannered to be Kanye's ego, right? What about the rose petals? I could go on, but I'll stop there.

Art is open to interpretation.

Pencil Face.

Created by Christian Simmons.

This joint is mad creepy. The little school girl. The desolate landscape. The music. The pencil goes without saying. I knew it couldn't be trusted! And don't eat that cake!

This reminds me of the "Frakendoodle" SpongeBob episode.

The Daily Harold.

My man Harold Green of Black Orchard is promoting a new mixtape:

I guess I should probably mention I shot a few of the clips used in this piece including the interview portion, and produced one of the tracks used. Check out Mr. Green's latest mixtape, The Daily Harold (The Sunday Edition).

YSL Clothing? YSL Films.

Yves Saint Laurent showcases their Spring/Summer line for 2010... or do they? Either way this short film written, directed, and shot by Samuel Benchetrit is pretty good.  A well executed story, and the little dude is Benchetrit's 11-year-old son.

Dope.

Spider.

Produced by Blue-Tongue Films.  My pops saw this on IFC a few weeks ago and recorded it for me.  It was too good not to share.  Easy to follow story line, characters are setup well, and the overall story-telling execution was good - and all under 10 minutes!  I now share it with you...
...Always listen to your mum.
